The Mayor

Mayor Certification Release

The Mayor of the City of Marthasville is an elected official who serves as the head of the city’s government. The mayor is elected by the voters to a term of two years.

The mayor presides over the city council and is a voting member. Every ordinance, resolution or motion passed by the council must be approved and signed by the mayor before it is in effect. He or she also acts as the budget officer and the city’s chief executive officer.

The mayor has the exclusive authority to represent and speak for the city and the city council in all situations.

City Clerk’s Office

The City Clerk’s Office is responsible for a varied list of duties including maintaining and preserving resolutions, ordinances, deeds and other official documents. The City Clerk creates and retains the official minutes of city council meetings and issues business and residential licenses and permits.

The Marthasville City Clerk’s Office is located at City Hall. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Phone: (636) 433-5554.

Marthasville City Council

The Board of Aldermen meeting is on the third Wednesday of every month, beginning at 7 p.m. at City Hall, located at 402 East Main Street. Meetings are open to the public.

Marthasville City Government

The City Council (aka Board of Aldermen) is responsible for establishing policy direction for the city to follow on behalf of taxpaying residents and businesses. The City Council represents the citizens of the city. They introduce and pass city ordinances and oversee the day to day operations and budget concerns of the city.

A City Mayor acts as head of the council and enforces the decrees of the council. The City of Marthasville has an elected Mayor and four Aldermen, all of whom are elected by the citizens for two year terms.
