Marthasville is very proud to be the last earthly home of the famous pioneer. After living his final years here, Daniel Boone was buried on a small knoll just outside our city limits. The gravesite is open till dusk each day and receives lots of visitors from around the world. Adjacent to the gravesite is Boone Monument Village. Schedule a tour or book an overnight stay at this meticulously restored 19th century village complete with historic cabins, tipis and a pre-civil war mansion-house. They also offer the perfect space for a wedding or other special event in their “Big Red Barn.” The Nathan Boone Home where Daniel Boone died while on a visit is in nearby Defiance.

This historic general store, located along the Katy Trail and the great Missouri River, was first opened more than 120 years ago. Today it is open seasonally on weekends. Bikers and hikers off the trail enjoy stopping in for soda and ice cream or to just sit awhile and enjoy live music in a beautiful rural environment.
